Registration for YorKAOS 2025 has now closed. We have now completed our collections from the Explore York libraries.

We’ve been working with graphic artist Sabrina Lauder to create the posters to display at SPARK – letting people where to go and when we are open.

Today the YorKAOS committee headed into the city centre for an interview with York Hospital Radio. Sharon Ward hosted an amazing conversation with Ada, Seth and Mabel.

Ada met with the fundraising team at St Leonard’s Hospice to chat about the exhibition. St Leonard’s Hospice is one of the three charities that the sale of the artwork is supporting. Today we received amazing news that our £500 grant application to the newly created Fortus Foundation has been successful.

Seth’s image of a diving kingfisher is the cover of York’s edition of the January issue of HandyMag. The YorKAOS committee is grateful for the coverage and excited about the magazine printing our story.

Today the committee met Jenny Layfield the Chief Executive Officer of Explore York Libraries and Archives. Jenny and her team have allowed YorKAOS to use their four main Explore libraries as collection points for artworks during the last two weeks in January.

The YorKAOS secretary (John) has been experimenting with AI – Artificial Intelligence. Using documents and emails created and sent by the committee the AI created a “chat show” style audio clip. We’ve put it on SoundCloud

We have been creating poster ideas ahead of working with professional designer Sabrina Lauder on the versions for printing. Posters for schools and home schooled kids here is an idea for the public advertising

Tonight we had our first committee meeting, we have decided to support two charities; St. Leonards Hospice and BBC Children In Need. We also choose our logo! It’s been a good as not all of us have met before….and we only young.

Today Ada visited the Rise of the vandals art exhibition, she talked to a lot of artists and bought an autographed print from Lincoln Lightfoot. Ada got some contact details for artists and DJs… might come in handy!

May was a busy time for Ada as she trained and fundraised for The Great Selby Bike Ride, cycling over 45 miles on one of the hottest days of the year.

In April most of the Committee attended the York Open Studios weekend’s, little did we know that it would inspire us to create YorKAOS. John (Ada’s dad, who would become the YorKAOS secretary) gave the opening speech to the YOS artists at the Hospitium.
